O…I thought you were dead
So last Tuesday I got back from Seattle and was chatting with Ben Robbins in our kitchen and he was like, “Ben Bloch cancelled class today,” and I was like “that’s awesome.” Then the next morning I got to the digital lab a little early for my BB class and there was a sign on the door announcing his absence from the previous day. I ripped it down, and then Charly Bloomquist, who was sitting in a room to my left with the door open told me not to be so happy because Ben Bloch’s mom had died the day before, which had also been his birthday. Then I felt like an ass. Then Ben Bloch arrived and we had class and the whole time I looked at him and tried to imagine him grieving.
So tonight, I’m here in the digilab working on stuff for his class, and who prances by the door but BB himself with an entourage. He then says, “Hey Iris,” and I say “O hi, just working on stuff for tomorrow morning,” and he says, “O cool I’m just showing the studio to my mother,” and then I see that he is in fact with a mother figure and someone who looks like his brother. Srsly WTF. Either Charly was hopped up on his pain killers and got confused or Ben Bloch is playing some awesome prank on the faculty. But boy was it surprising to see a person I thought had died last Tuesday…
